Biography

Montserrat Ginés Gibert was born in Girona (Spain) in 1951. She received her M.A. in Modern and Contemporary Spanish History (1975) and her Ph.D. in English (1991) from the Universitat de Barcelona. She is an associate professor of American Culture and Civilization in the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyers de Telecomunicacions de Barcelona at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. She has been a visiting scholar at the English Department (1992-1993) and at the University Program in Cultural Studies (1997) of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and at the MIT Program in Science, Technology, and Society (2001).

Research

Her research focuses on American literature and on the relationship between technology, culture, and society in the United States. She is the author of a number of journal articles, book chapters, and other contributions in her fields of specialization. In addition, she is the author of the book, The Southern Inheritors of Don Quixote (Louisiana State University Press, 2000) and editor of The Meaning of Technology: Selected Readings from American Sources (Edicions UPC, 2003).
